The Higher Self is synonymous with many other terms, but a few you might recognize are “The Subconscious” (used by Dolores Cannon), “The Oversoul,” “Infinite Intelligence,” “Universal Consciousness,” and “The Higher Consciousness.”
Defined, The Higher Self is source intelligence. It is the one essence that makes up all of life… both inanimate, and animate things in the universe… ALL of it.
This is the force that connects all of us… you know the phrase, “we are one”? This essence is what makes that statement true.
It cannot be itemized. It takes up no space, it’s not an entity, nor an individual. Just like gravity is a force that is physically intangible, but exists nonetheless, this essence is the same.
It is pure love, unconditional, infinite, limitless, strength, absolute. Any word of that nature… it is. And, it’s also existence… beingness.
That might be hard to grasp, but it’s not meant to be grasped. It will flow and exist despite your understanding of it, so, just trust what you do know about it, and let it reveal itself to you.
So how does The Higher Self, or this Intelligence play a part in your life?
I like what Irina Yugay says here, that “Your Higher Self is the ‘you’ that is unlimited and eternal. It’s the part of you that excites you with inspiration, guides you with intuition, and teaches you through insight.”
Those gut feelings you get, those weird vibes you get, those unexplainable feelings you get, are all ways this force is communicating to you.
Being pure love, it highlights what love is not, in your life… hence the odd vibes, or feelings that you’re just not yourself.
And it does this communication naturally. It’s just part of its nature. Just like how a plant just knows how to grow, The Higher Self knows itself.
